Salt Cod (Bacalhau)
The Portuguese have a long-standing love affair with Bacalhau, or Salt Cod, which is fondly named Fiel Amigo - Faithful Friend. Cod is not actually native to Portuguese shores hence the preserving method. Needs to be soaked for at least 12 hours before cooking. Delicious with garlic and parsley or in a Chowder. With help from a number of our Portuguese customers we have now sourced the most fantastic Salt Cod and must say it is miles better than our previous product.
